The School of ISPD is home to specialized centers that bring faculty, students and community partners together. From providing applied research for the transportation and supply chain industry and best practices in workplace and performance to promoting scholarly and educational opportunities related to African Americans, Black Diaspora, and American Indians鈥攖he Centers are offering services, developing partnerships, and enhancing the cultural diversity of our University through unique offerings.

The center facilitates partnerships between the faculty of Southern Miss and regional tribal governments in order to better serve the needs of the American Indian people in our area.

Southern Miss was desegregated in 1965 when Raylawni Branch and Gwendolyn Elaine Armstrong became the first African-American students enrolled at the University. Fifty years of progress is evident in the wide-ranging programming, research, teaching, and service activities organized and supported by the Center for Black Studies.

Evelyn Gandy Center for Women and Leadership

The Center joins the University in its mission to promote scholarship, teaching, and civic engagement around women and leadership. It will be dedicated to inclusion and recognizing the diversity of women represented not only in our university and community but across our state and nation.
