Spring 2025 Move-Out

Welcome to the spring move-out page! Below are move-out processes for all students living on campus.

Southern Miss housing facilities will be closing at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 10!

Starting Now

Empty and dispose of trash in outside dumpsters.
Clean your room and bathroom (this includes sweeping and mopping the floor, wiping down windows, desks, dressers, etc.)
Empty out and clean the mini fridge and microwave.
Start packing your personal items.

Day Of

Throw away or take any food left in mini fridge and unplug it.
Open your blinds (1st floor), close your blinds (upper floors).
Double-check that you've packed ALL of your items. (You are not allowed to keep any personal belongings on campus during the summer months, so make sure everything is packed and ready to go.).
Make sure you turn off all lights in your room.
Return keys (if applicable).

Please Note: All items must be removed from your room before you leave for the summer.

Check Out Inspection

Once all of the above steps have been taken, you will need to schedule a check out inspection with residence life staff before leaving campus. If you are not in a rush or are concerned with some possible damages in your room, we recommend scheduling a check out inspection with your RA. However, if you want to leave without doing the inspection with your RA, you can choose the express check out option.

Please Note: If you choose the express check out option, you waive the right to appeal any damages found in the room by residence life staff.

Staying on campus during the summer months?

If you are planning on taking summer classes and are staying in campus housing, you will be provided your move-in date and time in your confirmation email once the assignments team has placed you in a room. The "Summer 2025 Move-In" page will also have details on the move-in process to your summer housing.

Students who are taking summer classes and need to move in before the first day can fill out an early arrival form. This form will be attached to the confirmation email students will receive confirming their room booking. Once the form is submitted, it will need to be approved by housing before students can move in early.
